Primitivo sold to race in Hong Kong

Thursday 14 July 2016, 9:10am

Trainer Alan King's first Royal Ascot winner Primitivo has been sold to race in Hong Kong.

The three-year-old won his fourth successive race in the King George V Stakes and has changed hands for an undisclosed sum.

"He has been sold to Hong Kong. Richard Gibson has bought him to take him over there," King said.

"We are gutted to lose him, but there was no way we could turn the offer down. We will just have to find another one like him now."

Earlier this week, another Royal Ascot winner, Defrocked, was also sold to the Asian racing capital.

The Jamie Osborne-trained three-year-old won the Britannia Stakes (1600m) at the Royal meeting in June, his third victory from five starts.
