Morton's Fork has added himself to the long list of Godolphin colts being aimed at black-type races during the Melbourne spring carnival.
Morton's Fork ($2.50 favourite) settled towards the back of the field before rounding up his rivals in the straight to win the 1400m Hyland Race Colours 2yo Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday.
Harper's Choice ($10) finished second and Morton's Fork stablemate Fanfaron ($10) was an impressive third.
Trainer John O'Shea said the Group Two Sandown Guineas and the Group Three Carbine Club Stakes were possible spring targets for Morton's Fork.
"It was a great little win," he said.
"He'll probably get a little bit further."
O'Shea said Morton's Fork would go to the stable's Agnes Banks paddock for a one-week break before preparing for the spring.
Jockey Brenton Avdulla said applying blinkers to Morton's Fork was a crucial factor in the win.
"We got back but I was confident a long way out," he said.
"When I got fair dinkum on him he put them away like a nice horse."
