Trainer Mike Moroney is plotting a path towards black type races in the spring for Daniela Rosa and is hoping the filly can boost her rating with another win at Flemington.
Daniela Rosa and stablemate Bonnie Belle are nominated for Saturday's Rising Stars Final (1800m) but Moroney said only Daniela Rosa was likely to take her place.
Three-year-old Daniela Rosa has won her two starts this campaign at Sale and Flemington where she took out the Rivette Series Final (1600m) on July 9.
Moroney thought the filly was up to black-type races last spring but said by the time she contested two Group races she raced liked a tired horse.
He plans to give Daniela Rosa the chance to snare black type this spring and Saturday's race is part of that plan.
"We always thought last spring that she was up to black type and that's going to be the next step after this," Moroney said.
"We find in the spring that unless you get your rating up, you can struggle to make those mares' (stakes) races.
"So that's why we've kept going for another run. But it also gives us a look at her at 1800 metres, so we can work out exactly what races we are going to target in the spring."
