Whittington

Former brilliant juvenile Whittington retired on a high note with a scintillating win in the Listed BRC Lightning Handicap last year and proved very popular last spring at Grandview Stud in Queensland covering 102 mares.

His first foal to be born at Grandview, resulting from a September 1 mating last year, is this lovely bay filly from Tasmanian stakes-winner Lekitama, who has already produced two winners.

By outstanding shuttle sire Tale of the Cat (USA), Whittington was a precocious juvenile in the Gai Waterhouse stable for Star Thoroughbreds and scored a resounding three length debut victory in the Listed ATC Breeder Plate.

The race has a fine history for producing sires with past winners including Choisir, Charge Forward, Snitzel, Sebring, Real Saga and Smart Missile, while more recent winners Pierro, Vancouver and Capitalist all went on to win the Golden Slipper.

Whittington has let down into a magnificent horse and will be well supported again in his second season at a fee of $8,800.
