Yasnat heads to Caulfield to extend streak

Thursday 28 July 2016, 1:02pm

Caulfield has won out over Rosehill for promising Canberra-trained filly Yasnat.

Trainer Matthew Dale had the three-year-old entered in both Melbourne and Sydney looking to increase her winning streak to four.

Yasnat is unbeaten in three runs for Dale after beginning her career with Caulfield trainer Mick Price.

Dale said the decision to take her to Caulfield was a difficult one.

"It's the last opportunity to run her against her own age and sex and that was probably the alluring factor," Dale said.

"As well she drew slightly better at Caulfield than at Rosehill."

Dale said he would assess Yasnat's performance before making any decision to tackle better quality mares races early in the new season.

"It's a bit of a learning curve with her on Saturday and we're mindful that she's done a good job coming through the grades," Dale said.

"This is another step in raising the bar that little bit higher."

Yasnat will be attempting 1200m for the first time under Dale's care after two Canberra wins and a Moonee Valley success, all over 1000m on heavy tracks.

"She does plough through the mud so it obviously puts her at an advantage on wet tracks," he said.

"I suppose a drier track stepping out to 1200 will assist as opposed to if it was a bottomless heavy over 1200 metres.

"That would be more testing stepping up to that for the first time this prep, but I think all the indicators are there she'll handle the 1200 fine."

Yasnat is on the fifth line of betting at $14 with Anatola ($3.50) and Carterista ($4) dominating the early market.
