Ryan Moore returns a winner

Saturday 27 August 2016, 8:23am

Ryan Moore has made a winning return from injury at Newmarket on Spatial, his only ride on the program.

Moore had been out of action since July 31 with a non-specified injury believed to be related to a hip.

"It's just nice building back into it and while it's disappointing to miss so much of the peak season, it's part of the sport," Moore said.

"I decided it was the sensible thing to stop. Unfortunately I missed York which was disappointing, but I wanted to be back for Irish Champions Weekend."

Moore said he would concentrate on riding in big races but would not be chasing a third jockeys' title.

The jockey, who rides primarily for Coolmore, is expected to come to Australia if Aidan O'Brien brings horses to the spring carnival.

Moore rode the O'Brien-trained Adelaide to win the 2014 Cox Plate and also won the Melbourne Cup that year on Protectionist for German trainer Andreas Wohler.
