Brisbane trainer looking at Sydney money

Monday 19 September 2016, 11:09am

The lure of big prize money for off-season races in Sydney is tempting trainer Desleigh Forster to take her three stable stars across the border this summer.

I'm Belucci, Cylinder Beach and Too Good To Refuse all raced well during their three-year-old season and have had a good break.

They are back in Forster's Eagle Farm stable but she has no set plans for them other than to miss the spring carnivals.

"They have all grown into really nice horses. They had long campaigns as three year olds and they have appreciated the good spells," Forster said.

However, Forster said an option for all three was to head to Sydney for races which carry big prize money.

"My horses are good travellers and it is easy to get to Sydney these days. Why wouldn't I be looking at running down there," she said.

"The races there are worth $100,000 and my horses have shown they are up to Sydney class. It's hard to bypass that sort of money."

Forster says it will also be hard to pass up lesser races in northern NSW when the increases across the state kick in from October 1.

"We can hop over the border and race in the Northern Rivers for a lot more than we would at the Brisbane mid-weeks," she said.

Forster said I'm Belucci, who has twice been placed at Group One level, would have a light summer campaign but would step up to middle distance racing.

He ran second in the 2015 Spring Champion Stakes and thrd in this year's Queensland Derby.

Cylinder Beach finished third in a race at Randwick last year and was runner-up to Mackintosh in the Rough Habit Plate during the Brisbane winter carnival.

Too Good To Refuse ran fifth in the Spring Champion and won the Toowoomba Guineas before running second to Cylinder Beach in the Group Three Gunsynd Classic earlier this year.
