Omei Sword odds-on for G1 Flight Stakes

Monday 26 September 2016, 4:29pm

Omei Sword is set to start the Group One Flight Stakes at Winx-like odds after being rated the $1.60 favourite in first markets.

The Chris Waller-trained filly was runner-up to Astern in the Group One Golden Rose at her most recent start.

She heads to Saturday's $500,000 race at Randwick as the horse to beat.

Yankee Rose was sixth in the Golden Rose, her first start since winning the Group One ATC Sires' Produce Stakes in April.

She is on the second line of TAB's betting for the Flight at $4.20.

Omei Sword's stablemate and Tea Rose Stakes winner Foxplay is at $6 but she is doubtful to take her place with the Thousand Guineas on October 8 at Caulfield in mind.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Global Glamour is an $8 chance ahead of Skylight Glow who is $11.

Waller-trained horses hold five of the 12 nominations for the race, with Invincibella and Sezanne both $15, the same price as Awoke who is likely to run in the Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington on Sunday instead.

Astern is $1.60 favourite for the Group Two Roman Consul Stakes ahead of Golden Slipper winner Capitalist at $3.50.

English leads the market for the Group Two Premiere Stakes at $3.50 with the Les Bridge-trained Southern Legend next pick at $6.
