COX PLATE JOCKEYS' COMMENTS

Hugh Bowman (Winx) 1st : "When I was able to secure Hartnell's hindquarters, all my worries disappeared and I just enjoyed the ride like everyone else. I knew Hartnell would take me where I needed to go to, and he couldn't take me far enough. Even James (McDonald) said as I went by him, "Oh, Jesus Christ!". She's a superior racehorse and it's just an absolute honour to be a part of it."

James McDonald (Hartnell) 2nd :"Wow! I don't know what to say, I was going alright too. It's definitely not his track. He was brave in defeat but geez, she (Winx) is unreal."

Dean Yendall (Yankee Rose) 3rd :"She went awesome. She was real solid to the line, I was rapt the way she went today."

Mark Zahra (Vadamos) 4th :"He ran well, he was just too keen. I couldn't get him to switch off and I thought he did a good job to run fourth considering."

Stephen Baster (Awesome Rock) 5th :"He ran super. Obviously I got on Winx's back from about the 700 (metres) but she was too good for us."

Brenton Avdulla (Happy Clapper) 6th :"I thought he ran well. He didn't disgrace himself but that's probably as wet as he wants it. She (Winx) is just a freak."

Kerrin McEvoy (Lucia Valentina) 7th :"She never really travelled and the race was getting away from me from the half-mile. That's unlike her. She's better than that."

Dwayne Dunn (Hauraki) 8th :"I had a good run in transit, he was probably just found wanting late. He's probably better on top of the ground."

Brad Rawiller (Black Heart Bart) 9th :"When Vadamos went through, he switched off and I thought I was having a beautiful run but just under pressure on the wet ground, he struggled."

Ben Melham (Happy Trails) 10th :"Didn't go in the ground."
