Flying Artie is in line to contest two Group One sprints during the Melbourne Cup carnival but trainer Mick Price says stablemate Extreme Choice is unlikely to do the same.
Price has Extreme Choice and Flying Artie in Saturday's Coolmore Stud Stakes for three-year-olds at Flemington in which Extreme Choice is the $3.20 favourite to claim his third Group One win while Flying Artie is at $11.
Both colts also hold nominations to back up seven days later in the $1 million Darley Classic (1200m) which is a weight-for-age race against the older horses.
"I'm possibly leaning on Flying Artie doing it," Price said.
"Extreme Choice doesn't give me the feel that I should. And I would be thinking I would like to spell him and make those great sprint races in the autumn his."
The big autumn sprints are the Lightning Stakes, Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket Handicap in Melbourne and the TJ Smith Stakes in Sydney.
