Two Queensland apprentices out for a month

Sunday 12 February 2017, 9:17am

Queensland stewards have continued their crackdown on jockeys engaging in early speed battles by suspending two apprentices for a month for rides at the Gold Coast.

Jedidiah Hodge rode She Goes Pop and Corey Bayliss was on Waltz In Flight when the pair shared the lead in a race at the Gold Coast on February 4.

At a resumed inquiry on Saturday, stewards charged them with failing to give their mounts every opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible place.

Hodge, who pleaded guilty, was suspended for one month from February 11 to March 11.

Bayliss, who was found guilty., was suspended for one month from February 17 to March 17.
