Star three-year-olds head Lightning market

Tuesday 14 February 2017, 9:44am

Three-year-olds Star Turn and Flying Artie head the early betting on the Group One Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

Star Turn holds favouritism at $4.60 with Flying Artie the second pick at $4.80.

The two are racing for the first time since meeting in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington last spring won by Flying Artie with Star Turn third.

Lightly raced four-year-old Spieth, narrowly defeated by Malaguerra in the Darley Classic at Flemington at his first Group One attempt, is on the next line of betting at $5.50.

Terravista, beaten in the final stride by Chautauqua last year, is an $11 chance as is The Quarterback, last year's Newmarket Handicap winner, who has won two of his past three starts up the Flemington straight.
