Queensland stewards have opened their second inquiry in a week into alleged cobalt infringements.

Last week Rockhampton trainer Ricky Vale pleaded not guilty to four prohibited substance charges including three involving cobalt.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commission stewards have taken initial evidence in a hearing in which cobalt charges have been brought against Gold Coast trainer Marcus Wilson.

Stewards have alleged Wilson had two horses to race at separate meetings with elevated levels of cobalt detected in their urine samples.

Steering tested positive to cobalt in excess of the prescribed threshold after he won at the Gold Coast on November 19, last year.

Tests also showed Lyra had elevated levels of cobalt after the filly was placed at Ipswich on December 16.

Stewards adjourned the hearing until Friday week to allow Wilson's legal representative to provide submissions.
