Star Turn retired to Vinery Stud

Friday 31 March 2017, 8:52am

Star Turn is the latest of this season's three-year-old colts to be retired to stud.

He will stand a Vinery in the spring and joins Group One winners Flying Artie, Extreme Choice and Capitalist on the retired list with those colts to stand at Newgate Farm.

A dual Group winner, Star Turn was placed four times at Group One level most recently when third in last week's William Reid Stakes.

He also ran third in the Coolmore Stud Stakes won by Flying Artie from Godolphin's Astern who will also go to stud this year.

Vinery bought into Star Turn last December.

"We had been tracking him since his first win as an early two-year-old at Randwick but it was his three-year-old campaign that impressed us the most," Vinery's general manager Peter Orton said.

"He's the colt we rated of the current crop to stand at Vinery.

"He has pedigree, performance and physique, all essential qualities we look for in a stallion."

His original owner Alan Bell will remain in the ownership group.

Star Turn is by dual Group One-winning sprinter Star Witness out the speedy Golden Delicious, the winner of five stakes sprints.
