The United States ready for QEII Cup

Friday 28 April 2017, 3:40pm

Australian Group One winner The United States has pleased his race jockey in a gallop at Sha Tin.

The United States is in Hong Kong for Sunday's QEII Cup (2000m) and jockey Brett Prebble says the Robert Hickmott-trained 2016 Ranvet Stakes winner has given him a "great feel" during track work.

"He's a lovely horse in top health," Prebble said on Friday.

"He seems to have travelled super and taken no ill-effect from the travel or the change of environment."

Sunday will be The United States' first start since he ran fourth to Winx at the Queens Elizabeth Stakes in Sydney on April 8.

It is also mooted to be his last with a stud career beckoning.
