Go Daddy Go wins in Clarendon Stakes upset

Saturday 29 April 2017, 1:25pm

As Sydney's weather has started to improve, so to have the racing fortunes of Go Daddy Go.

"We thought he might have been a horse for the (Group One) Champagne Stakes but the more it rained the less prospects he had," co-trainer Anthony Cummings said.

Go Daddy Go went some way to confirming Cummings' lofty opinion with a heart-stopping win in the Clarendon Stakes at Hawkesbury on Saturday.

In a three-way finish, Go Daddy Go ($21) edged out Fifth Affair ($11) and Charlie Chap ($8) to break through at his third start.

"We were tossing up whether to send him to the paddock but with the tracks getting firmer he started to put in a couple of nice gallops," Cummings said.

Go Daddy Go's win continues a profitable association Cummings and his son Edward are enjoying with the progeny of Coolmore Stud sire Uncle Mo.

Besides their impressive Sydney autumn carnival winner Man From Uncle, they have also had stakes success with Moqueen.

And the senior member of the training partnership will also consider giving Go Daddy Go his chance in better races, perhaps sooner rather than later.

"Providing the track at Eagle Farm isn't too loose today, he'll go to Brisbane for the winter carnival," Cummings said.

"Otherwise he will be off for a spell."
