Trainers to get Eagle Farm track update

Sunday 21 May 2017, 10:53am

Trainers will receive an update on the progress of the Eagle Farm racing surface ahead of its next meeting.

The Brisbane Race Club has called in several experts to help with the track and BRC chairman Neville Bell said representatives from contractor Evergreen, Racing Queensland and the the club would attend the meeting on Monday afternoon.

Eagle Farm will have its first race meeting in four weeks when it hosts the Group One Kingsford Smith Cup program on Saturday.

The track has been under fire after it played as a heavy rating on May 3 despite the fact there had been no rain for 10 days.

"It is our quarterly meeting with trainers but it gives us a chance to update the trainers on the progress," Bell said.

"We have thrown all resources at the track and are quietly confident it will race well. Of course we are in the hands of the weather."

Eagle Farm has had 20mm of rain in the past week and would have been heavy on Saturday.

However, fine weather is predicted for most of this week
