Corey Brown whip suspension set aside

Thursday 25 May 2017, 5:07pm

Corey Brown has had his seven-day suspension for a whip offence in the Doomben Cup set aside.

An internal review by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission on Thursday agreed with a submission by Brown that his offence had been minor.

The QRIC hearing also found the whip action by Brown before the 100m mark had not been consecutive.

The suspension and $2000 fine were set aside and no substitute penalty imposed.

Chief steward Allan Reardon said he had been informed of the decision and he accepted it.

After Brown won the Group One Cup on Sense of Occasion stewards charged him with using the whip three more times than allowed before the 100m.

At the inquiry Reardon said Brown had a poor recent record having been found guilty twice for excessive whip use this year since his return from Singapore.
