Geelong synthetic meetings transferred

Thursday 25 May 2017, 5:48pm

Milder than average temperatures have forced the transfer of two upcoming meetings from the Geelong synthetic track.

Friday's meeting has been moved to the turf track while next Tuesday's meeting has been moved to the synthetic surface at Pakenham.

The decision to transfer the meetings was made because of concerns with the adhesiveness of the surface which has been impacted by milder than average temperatures.

Racing Victoria stewards inspected the track on Thursday when they noticed an abnormal amount of the synthetic surface sticking to the hooves of a horse which galloped as part of their inspection.

The problem was also evident at the previous meeting on the synthetic track on May 16.

The distances of three races on Friday have been changed following the transfer with races five and six reduced from 1900m to 1700m and race seven increased from 1000m to 1100m.
