Miss Debutante approaches crowning moment

Friday 26 May 2017, 2:19pm

Miss Debutante has a chance to prove the Tiara is fitting when the promising filly steps out in Queensland winter carnival at Eagle Farm.

Fresh from winning her first stakes race at Scone, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained three-year-old attempts another step up in the Group Three Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m).

Her Brisbane debut serves as preparation for the Group One Tattersall's Tiara (1400m) on June 24.

"We're working out what the best path is her for towards the Tiara. She'll be tested over the 1300 to 1400 metres, whichever way we go," Bott said.

Miss Debutante has four wins from six starts with her latest success in Scone the most eye-catching.

After being hampered at the start of the Denise's Joy Quality on May 13, Tommy Berry got her to the post 2-1/2 lengths clear of Snitty Kitty.

"I'm really impressed with the turn of foot she showed. She showed a bit of versatility there coming off the speed," Bott said.

"That was really impressive from her going forward. Based on that she's given us an indication stepping up in trip could suit."

Miss Debutante's stablemate Prompt Response has had her carnival introduction delayed after Waterhouse and Bott opted to keep the three-year-old filly in Sydney until the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11.

Prompt Response had been nominated for the Glenlogan Park Stakes and Group Three Fred Best Classic (1400m) this weekend with the Tattersall's Tiara also the focus of her preparation..
