Test The World survives Rosehill protest

Saturday 3 June 2017, 1:01pm

Syndicator Dean Watt has taken a throw at the stumps but run himself out after lodging a protest against the result of a race at Rosehill.

The Dynamic Syndications-owned Arbeitsam ($3.70), ridden by Blaike McDougall, was run down late by Corey Brown on Test The World ($13) in Saturday's ATC Membership (1200m).

The margin between the pair was a short head and Watt fired in a protest with the head-on footage showing the pair coming together at the 25m.

Brown told stewards he had moved marginally but if anything was more inconvenienced by Arbeitsam shifting out over the final 100m.

Test The World's trainer Bjorn Baker told stewards the protest was frivolous.

Stewards were quick to dismiss the objection, telling Watt it indeed bordered on being frivolous given his horse was the main contributor.

Test The World was Brown's first winner for Baker although he has had success with the trainer's father Murray Baker over the years.

"I haven't had many rides for Bjorn but I used to ride for his father before I went to Singapore," Brown said.

"It was a good win. She was still having a look around and has a bit to learn but is a nice filly."

Baker said he believed Test The World still had plenty to offer after registering her fourth win from six starts.

"She is a big athletic filly," he said.

"I was in the sale ring and Grant Morgan of Ontrack Thoroughbreds asked if I was looking to buy her.

"When I said yes he said he would buy her and give her to me to train so it's worked out well."

Favourite New Universe ($2.25) failed to make it three from three since coming to Australia from New Zealand, feeling the his 59.5kg top weight to run eighth.
