Lightly framed filly All Over Bosanova overcame a pre-race scare but then had some luck in running before she scored at Doomben on Saturday.
All Over Bosanova ($3.80) shifted a plate before the race and had to be reshod.
She then got an easy lead before holding on to beat the unlucky Tactical Advantage ($4.20) by a short neck in the Listed Daybreak Lover stakes (1200m).
All Over Bosanova has now won five of her eight starts but trainer Mel Eggleston believes it should be more.
"Tactical Advantage beat us last time when we had no luck from a wide barrier," he said.
"We had much better luck today from a barrier three and it was a clever ride by Luke (jockey Rolls) in the lead.
"She got black type today and I was happy because she is a valuable broodmare now."
Eggleston has All Over Bosanova in the Group One Tatts Tiara but she is no certainty to start.
"She weighs only 410 kilograms and she can't cop hard runs," he said.
Jockey Glyn Schofield couldn't get a run on Tactical Advantage and felt his mount should have won easily.
