Miss Gunpowder blows them away in Hinkler

Saturday 10 June 2017, 12:26pm

Victorian filly Miss Gunpowder is on track for a Group One breakthrough after winning at Doomben.

Miss Gunpowder ($4) won a blanket finish, scoring by a short half-head from Too Good To Refuse in the Listed Makers Mark Hinkler Handicap.

The Pendragon mare was sold for $700,000 to a Neil Werrett-headed syndicate at the recent Gold Coast National Sales.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said Miss Gunpowder would now press on to the Group One Tatts Tiara (1350m) in a fortnight at Doomben.

"She is a multiple black-type winner who has won at the distance. There is some improvement in her and she deserves a chance at the best company," Dabernig said.

Miss Gunpowder, who was previously trained by Philip Stokes, has now won six races and more than $400,000 which will assure her a start in the Tiara.
