Four jockeys suspended out of Flemington

Saturday 10 June 2017, 5:46pm

Tom Sadler has had his joy at riding a winner at Flemington soured by a 12-meeting careless riding suspension.

The jockey had only been back riding for two days following a suspension incurred at the last Flemington meeting on May 20.

Sadler rode Urban Ruler to victory in the Comic Court Handicap, but Racing Victoria stewards rubbed him out after causing a tiring Miss Universe, ridden by Stephanie Thornton, to be checked near the 200m.

Sadler starts his suspension immediately and can return for the Geelong meeting on June 23.

James Winks was suspended for 10 meetings for careless riding on two separate occasions after sharing the prize in the Eugene Gorman Handicap.

Apprentice Jordan Childs and Andrew Mallyon were also suspended for careless riding for 10 and eight meetings respectively.
