Former Hong Kong race caller David Raphael's decision to help Gerald Ryan get some owners for filly Problem Solver has reaped a big dividend at the Gold Coast.
Problem Solver ($10) ran home strongly to beat She Sees Everything ($81) by a long neck with a half length to Zoology ($15) in Saturday's $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden (1200m).
Ryan paid $160,000 for Problem Solver as a yearling and approached Raphael to help find owners for her.
"David put together a syndicate of 18 owners all from Hong Kong so they will be very pleased with the $150,000 first prize," Ryan said.
"She had run second at her three starts for us and I knew she was near a win."
Ryan believes the filly can go on to win in better company after running 1:08.87 for the 1200m which was a class record and less than a second outside the track record 1:07.95.
Winning jockey Robbie Fradd was impressed with the effort and also predicted a bright future for the filly.
"They went very quickly in the lead and that suited her," he said.
Jim Byrne said She Sees Everything should have gone close to winning after having to come wide in the straight.
The favourite Dinnigan blew from $1.75 to $2.40 after she sweated up badly in the parade ring and led to the 200m before finishing fourth.
