Victorian jockey Dwayne Dunn has made a flying visit to Newcastle to ride Group One prospect Outrageous to a narrow victory.

The Hawkes Racing-trained Outrageous was the $1.40 favourite in Sunday's 1300m-maiden but had to fight off Godolphin colt Tin Hat ($5.50) to prevail by a head.

Outrageous is now expected to be aimed at the Group One ATC Sires' Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes.

"A few people, like myself, probably had their heart in their mouth for a stride or two," Dunn told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

"The horse of Arrowfield's (Panzerfaust) babysat me all through the run, and I just had to hold my spot one-off, just let him get through his rhythm.

"He sprinted nice when he came off behind them."

Dunn said he did not think Outrageous was a Golden Slipper prospect but would be suited over the longer distances.

The colt is a son of Black Caviar's half-brother All Too Hard who Dunn rode to four Group One wins for the Hawkes training partnership.
