Trainer David Payne has enjoyed an early season treble at Rosehill on Saturday, taking the limelight from his neighbour Chris Waller who had a double at his home track.
Group One placegetter Honorius led Payne's charge with Lilliburlero and Winning Glory his other winners.
"Honorius and Winning Glory will go to the Premier's Cup in two weeks and Lilliburlero will go to the Tibbie Stakes at the Newcastle carnival next month," Payne said.
"It's been a good day."
Senior jockeys James McDonald and Nash Rawiller were successful on Honorius and Lilliburlero respectively, but the trainer saved most of his praise for apprentice Serg Lisnyy who took Winning Glory to the front shortly after the start of his 1800m race and never relinquished the lead.
Although Winning Glory was taking baby steps towards the end, he had enough in hand to hold off Less Is More ($4.20 fav) by a length.
"He rode him a treat," Payne said.
"I told him to get them off the bit and it worked out perfectly."
Winning Glory's stablemate Praecido finished seventh. The stablemates are by One Cool Cat who has not been fashionable in Australia but is among Payne's favourite sires.
"I've got two of them and together they have won a million dollars," he said.
Praecido has earned $634,000 while Winning Glory has racked up $394,000.
