One of racing's most successful combinations will be reunited on Cox Plate day with Chris Munce to partner Sizzling at Moonee Valley.
Trainer Kelso Wood has confirmed Munce will be back aboard Sizzling when he makes his Melbourne debut in the Group Two Crystal Mile (1600m) at weight-for-age on October 26.
"I don't think he'd get into the Cox Plate so we'll go for the mile race," Wood told AAP.
Munce has ridden Sizzling in 16 of his 21 starts for seven wins and is the only jockey to have won aboard the four-year-old.
Sizzling was ridden in four races during the Sydney spring carnival by Tim Clark, culminating in a seventh placing to Boban in last Saturday's Group One Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick.
Wood rated Sizzling unlucky in the Epsom.
"Sincero was on his outside and held him up and he didn't have much of a chance to get a run at them until the last little bit of the race," he said.
"He only got beaten just over a length so it was a good run. He's been unlucky that many times but we can't do much about it."
Sizzling drew barrier three in the Epsom which Wood said proved more of a hindrance than a help.
"As soon as he drew three I was horrified because I wanted him out in the middle of the field," he said.
"That's the best place for a horse like him. I was hoping to draw between nine and 12 but when you want a good barrier like that you never get them."
Wood said Sizzling had pulled up in good order after the Epsom and arrived in Melbourne on Thursday.
After the Crystal Mile, Wood will choose a Group One target for Sizzling between the $1 million Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on November 2 and the $1 million Emirates Stakes (1600m) the following Saturday.
"I'd like to try him over 2000 metres and traditionally the Mackinnon is a race for the stayers to run in before the Melbourne Cup," he said.
"The Emirates is going to be a pretty hot race and (we) might run into Atlantic Jewel."
Sizzling's stablemate Belltone, who beat just one home in the Epsom, has returned to Brisbane and might have one or two more runs before a spell but Wood is mindful the gelding doesn't cope well with hot weather.
