Equiano colt in control at Glorious Goodwood

Tuesday 5 August 2014, 4:52pm

Equiano punched home another winner at Pontefrect on Sunday.

Dark Reckoning (2f Equiano - Impressible by Oasis Dream) saluted with a speed-dominant victory in the Pontefract Racecourse Tips Stakes (1000m).  She was coming off a Hamilton placing and was always in charge under Jamie Spencer.

The Ann Duffield trained filly was purchased by Qatar Racing for 31,000 pounds (AUD 52,535) from Newsells Park Stud at the Doncaster Yearling Sale last August.  Her dam is a half-sister to G1 Nunthorpe Stakes winner Reverence.

Qatar Racing has a perfect record with the two Equiano yearlings it purchased last year.  His colt Lightning Stride won at Leicester last month for trainer Brian Meehan after making 82,000 euros (AUD 118,360) from Newsells Park at the Goffs Orby Sale.

Newsells Park has Dark Reckoning’s yearling brother by Equiano catalogued for the Doncaster Premier Sale on August 26 & 27.

Swettenham Stud will stand Equiano (Fr) for a $16,500 (inc gst) fee this year.
