Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock's spring carnival hopefuls have enhanced their Melbourne prospects on both sides of the Atlantic.
Seismos snatched a last-stride victory over Willing Foe in a thrilling finish to the Group Three Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury while Dandino just failed to defend his American St Leger at Arlington in Chicago.
Both Seismos and Dandino are trained by Marco Botti and are among the entries for the Caulfield Cup.
Seismos dug deep under pressure for Martin Harley to wear down Willing Foe in the closing stages and take the Freer by a neck.
Seal Of Approval came from last to deny dual Melbourne Cup runner-up Red Cadeaux third on the line.
Mario Baratti, Botti's assistant, said the two miles (3200m) of the Melbourne Cup was a question mark but the 2400 of the Caulfield Cup was within his range.
"Marco isn't sure if he stays two miles," Baratti said.
"Maybe his best is a mile and five (2600m), but I'm sure we'll take him home and plan something."
Ed Dunlop, trainer of Red Cadeaux, said Australia was firmly on the agenda again.
"He's a very hard horse to assess as he doesn't work very well at home any more, but I wanted to see him run well and he has done it again," Dunlop said.
"He's still a legend. As long as Ronnie Arculli (owner) is happy, Australia's the plan and I would like to give him one more run before that.
"He's in the Irish Leger, the Grand Prix de Deauville, a Group One in Germany or he could go back to Australia early."
Dandino, who ran second in the 2013 Caulfield Cup, showed he was getting back to his best after two unplaced runs on wet ground in England.
ATB principal Darren Dance is keen for Dandino to follow the same path as a year ago.
The Moonee Valley Racing Club will extend an invitation to Adelaide to run in the Cox Plate after his win in the Secretariat Stakes at the Arlington meeting.
Aidan O'Brien would remain his trainer for the weight-for-age showpiece with the intention to transfer him to Chris Waller to race in Australia.
Stable clients of Waller have bought into Adelaide to race him in partnership with Coolmore.
