The seaside Deagon racecourse will take another step to returning to the TAB circuit when it hosts a picnic meeting on Sunday.
There hasn't been full-time racing at Deagon since 1941 but it has remained a major training and barrier trials centre.
It was used for a one-off race meeting during the outbreak of equine influenza in 2007.
Racing Queensland sanctioned the first picnic meeting at the track last year and it was a sell-out with 8000 racegoers cramming the course.
This year the picnic meeting will have full Sky Channel and TAB coverage for its seven events.
Betting giant Tatts Group has also thrown its weight behind the meeting, joining the Brisbane Bombers rugby league group as major sponsors.
RQ will review the meeting and decide whether Deagon could be suitable to rejoin the week-day TAB circuit.
Eagle Farm looks likely to be closed for up to a year, putting a strain on other tracks in southeast Queensland.
"I am aware there is a push for Deagon to hold TAB meetings on perhaps Wednesdays or Fridays. But there are problems with things such as jockeys' rooms, stewards' facilities and the like," RQ chief executive Darren Condon said.
"We did hold a successful grass-track harness race meeting at Deagon recently and things went well.
"But we will have to review the situation in regards a full race meeting after a Sunday."
Meanwhile, the Brisbane Race Club on Friday called for expressions of interest in joining it as a partner in a $1.5 billion commercial and residential development at Eagle Farm and Doomben.
Plans for the redevelopment were announced in June but the BRC took its first formal step to making it a reality with newspaper advertisements on Friday.
