Noble Mission awarded Group One prize

Saturday 13 September 2014, 7:00am

Frankel's brother Noble Mission has been given his second Group One victory after Spiritjim was disqualified from the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud due to a positive swab.

The Pascal Bary-trained four-year-old had swooped late on June 29 to deprive the Lady Cecil-trained Noble Mission by just a head.

A statement from France-Galop, France's racing regulating body, said the colt had been treated with ventipulmin or clenbuterol, which is used for breathing difficulties.

Spiritjim can still run in Sunday's Prix Foy, but Bary was fined 3,000 euros ($A4,500).

Noble Mission also won the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh earlier in the year.

"No one wants to win a race like that, but obviously I'm thrilled for the horse," Lady Cecil said.

"He's now a two-time Group One winner and no one can take that away from him.

"We decided against Ireland this weekend as the ground is too fast, but we hope to add to his two wins in the autumn.

"The Champion Stakes might be his race as in previous years at that meeting there has been plenty of cut, so that should suit him.

"Whether he stays in training next year will be a decision for the Prince (Khalid Abdullah)."
