Duric suspended after winning Group 2 race

Saturday 4 October 2014, 6:41pm

Vlad Duric won the Group Two Blazer Stakes on Forever Loved at Flemington but he will miss Caulfield Guineas day after being suspended for his winning ride.

Duric pleaded guilty to careless riding aboard the Gai Waterhouse-trained mare for shifting in inside the final 100m of Saturday's 1400m race for mares, hampering runners to his inside as Forever Loved sprinted to victory.

Stewards found the incident to be in the mid range but took into account Duric's guilty plea and his good riding record having only been suspended twice in the past two and a half years.

Duric's ban starts after Sunday and he can return to racing on October 14.

He said he would not appeal the suspension.
