Cheap buy Hot Snippety is set to join stablemate Syn City on a lightning trip to Melbourne for the $250,000 Inglis Banner on WS Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley after her win at Doomben on Saturday.
Hot Snippety ($3.80) raced like a mature galloper to score an easy win at her first start in the Tacoma Plumbing Two Year old (1050m).
Trainer Liam Birchley had already committed Syn City, who won the first two-year-old race of the season in Toowoomba's Hopeful Stakes, to a trip to Melbourne.
"She was a cheap buy for us at the Inglis sales at about $13,000 so she owes us nothing and you might as well strike while the iron is hot."
"Hot Snippety and Syn City share a few owners so we might as well attack with two rather than one. It would be good to have runners on Cox Plate day."
Meanwhile, trainer Tony Gollan's commitment to win black type races with former Victorian mare Zoomania moved up another cog when she won the EBD Training Open Hcp (1615m).
Zoomania was originally trained by Peter Moody at Caulfield where she showed potential as a middle distance horse.
The mare's owners the Cressfield Syndicate sent Zoomania to Gollan hoping to win black type races during the past winter carnival but the mare was struck down by a virus after one run.
Zoomania will probably go south in search of black type mares races in the coming weeks.
