Top Queensland sprinter Temple Of Boom has been ruled out of the Perth summer carnival due to a leg injury.
The Group One winner, who had a mixed spring campaign in Melbourne, raced well below his best when he finished down the track in Saturday's Group One Darley Classic at Flemington.
Trainer Tony Gollan revealed Temple of Boom injured the hamstring in his near-side hind leg during the race.
"He will have six weeks in the paddock and miss the summer in Perth," Gollan said.
"Whether we bring him back for the Sydney autumn remains to be seen.
"At his age (eight) he is probably starting to get below the Sydney autumn standard and we might keep him instead for another crack at the Brisbane winter."
Gollan had planned to run Temple Of Boom in the Group One Winterbottom Stakes in Perth.
The trainer will still be represented during the Perth carnival by Alma's Fury who will head west for the Group One Railway Stakes on November 22.
"He had no luck at all in the spring and he wasn't far behind some top-class horses when he had no luck," Gollan said.
"I think he has a real chance in Perth."
