The spring didn't go to plan for stable star Go Indy Go and trainer Leon Macdonald is hoping to end the carnival on a high with Nearest To Pin at Sandown.
He and his partner Andrew Gluyas are also looking to maintain the momentum of Adelaide trainers in Melbourne after Phillip Stokes, Mick Huxtable and Tony McEvoy won five of the nine races on the final day of Melbourne Cup week.
A Listed winner at Flemington in July, Nearest To Pin runs in the Group Three Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m) on Saturday.
Go Indy Go was found to be slightly lame after finishing seventh as the second favourite in the VRC Oaks while Nearest To Pin goes to Sandown for the second start of his latest campaign.
"Go Indy Go is fine. I trotted her up the morning after the Oaks and there was no sign of lameness," Macdonald said.
"She might have jarred up a bit but I think she just raced flat.
"We were behind the eight-ball a bit with her the whole preparation. She was lighter than I would have liked.
"She has gone for a spell for six weeks and we will get her ready for the Australasian Oaks in Adelaide.
"It will be light campaign with a view to next spring."
Nearest To Pin had a chequered run first-up in the Group Two tab.com.au Stakes (1200m) at Flemington last Saturday week when he finished fifth to Deep Field.
"I thought he ran very well that day," Macdonald said.
"He got too far back and ran home well. He came out of the race in good order and I think he will be suited at weight-for-age."
