Talented apprentice Matt McGuren continued to make the most of his limited time with an allowance by riding a double at Ipswich on Wednesday.
McGuren only had three rides on the card but was able to kick home Sigmund ($3.30) and Casarati ($3), although his day was later soured by a six meeting suspension.
The double took him to 30 wins this season, 16 of those in the metropolitan area.
It also lifted him into equal third place on the Brisbane jockeys' premiership behind fellow apprentices Luke Tarrant and Bridget Grylls.
McGuren moved to the Gold Coast in July to make the most of his claim before his apprenticeship ends next month.
Sigmund gave McGuren a few anxious moments when he wanted to duck out on the line in the Queensland Times Hcp (1350m) and the junior rider later pleaded guilty to causing interference aboard the horse.
He was suspended for six meetings from November 19 to November 28.
Trainer Ben Currie has done a good job with Sigmund, a former Patinack Farm horse who was considered good enough to contest a Blue Diamond Preview in 2012.
Sigmund was sold to clients of Currie last year and has now won three races for the stable.
"We decided to put blinkers on him again after he didn't begin well at his previous start at Ipswich," Currie said.
Meanwhile, trainer Rob Heathcote wasn't surprised to see Shukriya ($12) bounce back with a win in Wednesday's Schweppes Handicap (1200m).
The filly had finished last at her only start in July but Heathcote pointed out she had won a trial in good style previously and nothing went right at her debut.
Shukriya provided the second leg of an early double for apprentice Travis Wolfgram who teamed with trainer Matt Dunn in the opening race to produce impressive debut winner Fantastic Feeling.
By top Queensland sire Show A Heart, Fantastic Feeling has been patiently handled by Dunn who gave him four barrier trials before he came out and scored a 6-1/4 length win on Wednesday.
"When I asked him for an effort he really took off. He is pretty handy," Wolfgram said.
