Emaratee, the colt which went through the yearling sales ring for $4 million, has made his first public appearance in a Rosehill barrier trial.
The three-year-old, who has been patiently managed by Hawkes Racing, led for most of the 900-metre heat and fought for fifth in a blanket finish.
By Fastnet Rock, Emaratee is out of 2003 Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove and is raced in partnership by His Excellency Nasser Lootah and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
Emaratee is the second most expensive yearling sold at public auction in Australia, his price tag eclipsed only by the $5 million paid for a half-brother to Black Caviar.
The champion sprinter's sibling died without racing.
