Stablehand warned off for five years

Thursday 13 November 2014, 4:56pm

A stablehand who king-hit a female strapper in the mounting yard on VRC Oaks Day last year has been warned off Australian racetracks for five years.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in Melbourne convicted Rick Dight of two charges on Thursday over the incident at Flemington racecourse in November 2013.

The assault was captured on nationwide television and witnessed by a racing steward.

He was warned off for five years on both charges, but the penalties will be served concurrently.

Dight did not attend Thursday's hearing.

In August, Dight received a two-month jail sentence and 18-month community correction order over the incident.
