Stablemates Mesa and Philosophy have shown enough raw talent for the Godolphin team to be excited about their racetrack debuts in different states.
But Godolphin racing manager Jason Walsh also expects the organisation to learn a lot more about the two in their respective races on Saturday.
Mesa steps out in the Listed Santa's Magical Kingdom Stakes (1000m) at Sandown, and Walsh says the son of Lonhro ranks among the stable's leading two-year-old colts early in the season.
Philosophy has also shown a good deal of talent and makes her debut at Rosehill.
The Street Cry filly impressed with a barrier trial win in Sydney last week while Mesa finished second to stablemate Bantam in a recent Sydney trial.
Bantam was fifth as favourite in the Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington on debut and came down the middle of the track while the winner was on the inside section.
"Much like Bantam, Mesa's shown quite a lot," Walsh said.
"He's been quite precocious, in our top echelon of colts certainly on what they've shown to date.
"Physically he's quite a neat, compact but very strong little colt."
Walsh expects Mesa to improve on whatever he does on debut, in fitness and through experience, but is hoping he makes an immediate impression.
"He's quite an exciting colt to have and we'll learn a lot more about him on Saturday," he said.
Philosophy is second favourite for the Cellarbrations Appin Plate (1100m) behind the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Paceman who is odds-on after a 6-3/4-length trial win at Randwick.
"Physically she'll be better next preparation with a bit more strength under her belt but as she showed in the trial she's got her share of ability," Walsh said.
"It's a small and maybe tricky enough little field but we really look forward to stepping her out and she'll learn a lot more about race day and what that entails, and we'll learn a lot more about her."
