Michael Walker has been fined $1500 for excessive whip use in his winning ride aboard Spillway in the Australian Cup at Flemington on Saturday.
Stewards said Walker used the whip in a backhand manner on 24 occasions inside the final 200m without a break, not allowing time for Spillway to respond.
Spillway defeated stablemate Extra Zero, ridden by Damian Lane, by a nose in the Group One race.
Walker also had his day soured when suspended for eight meetings on a careless riding charge after winning aboard Wawail in the Kewney Stakes.
The suspension begins following the Yarra Valley meeting on Sunday and he returns on March 23.
Walker's suspension will force him to miss the ride on Criterion in next week's Group One George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill.
