Trial points to Traveston in G3 Glenlogan

Thursday 26 May 2016, 12:10pm

Amid the accolades for Doomben 10,000 favourite Azkadellia after a recent barrier trial, the effort of runner-up Traveston Girl was virtually ignored.

Azkadellia easily beat Traveston Girl, but those who watched the barrier trial realised the Brisbane mare should have finished much closer.

Traveston Girl gets a chance to live up to that effort in the Group Three Glenlogan Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

"Azkadellia was very good in the trial but a lot of people didn't realise that Traveston Girl slipped at the start and virtually went down on her chest," trainer Tony Gollan said.

Gollan expects Traveston Girl to be the main danger to Ghisoni, the Godolphin filly which has skipped the Doomben 10,000 to run in the Glenlogan.

"I know we are drawn wide but I don't think that is bad thing for Traveston Girl. She can roll along from out there and prove hard to beat," he said.

Gollan said punters should ignore Traveston Girl's first up run when 10th at the Gold Coast.

"She just wasn't suited by the Gold Coast or the way the race was run," he said.

"The trial since shows she is getting back to her best."
