$50,000 Bonus won by Everage in Canberra
Two-year-old filly Everage took her racetrack earnings to over seven times her yearling sale purchase price when winning the 1000m Lightning Ridge 2YO Plate at Canberra on Sunday.
Everage ($20,000 2012 Classic, 2f Zizou-Quipster) was coming off a second placing behind boom juvenile Overreach in the Listed ATC Widden Stakes, and given a rails hugging ride today by Nathan Berry the filly was able to score a narrow win over fellow Inglis yearling sale graduates Raise No Doubt, Meticulously and Torio Magic.
The first four finishers over the line were all eligible for the $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus attached the race.
Connections of Everage take home $63,000 today when adding the $50,000 Bonus to the $13,000 first place prizemoney.
The Craig Carmody trained juvenile was first emergency and missed a start in the $250,000 Inglis Classic last month, but has recorded two wins and two placings from four starts since then.
Everage has now earned $154,550, which is over seven times the $20,000 it cost Carmody and fellow trainer Michael Kent to purchase the filly from the draft of Holbrook Thoroughbreds at the 2012 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.
There are three Inglis Race Series Bonuses on offer next month. $50,000 Bonuses are on offer on 1400m Bendigo Guineas for three-year-olds on 16 March and 1400m Albury Guineas for three-year-olds on 22 March. A $100,000 Bonus will also go on the line on a 1700m 3YO Handicap at Caulfield on 23 March.
