Stewards have cleared Peal Of Bells to run in the Grafton Cup if trainer Gwenda Markwell decides to continue the stayer's campaign in the rich country race.
Peal Of Bells galloped in front of stewards and a vet at Kembla Grange on Tuesday and confirmed his fitness for Thursday's feature.
The well-regarded stayer's campaign stalled when he finished down the track in the Winter Cup at Rosehill eight days ago.
He was beaten so far that stewards wanted him to run in a barrier trial before returning to racing.
Markwell, however, convinced stewards there would be little point to Peal Of Bells contesting a trial over a sprint course because he would be outpaced.
"A veterinary examination of Peal Of Bells following the gallop indicated no abnormality," Racing NSW stewards said.
Peal Of Bells is a $15 chance in Grafton Cup betting with Winter Cup winner Destiny's Kiss ($4) shading New Zealander Zennista ($4.80) for favouritism.
