Shoot Out top weight for Epsom Hcp

Monday 16 September 2013, 5:31pm

As expected, five-time Group One winner Shoot Out has been given top weight of 58kg for next month's $500,000 Epsom Handicap.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding, who will look to add to his Group One tally in Saturday's weight-for-age George Main Stakes, will carry the same Epsom weight as he did last year when he ran seventh to Fat Al in the feature Randwick mile.

He also carried 58kg when sixth in the Doncaster this year.

Dual Group One winner Sincero is next in the Epsom weights at 57kg while New Zealander Veyron, winner of five Group Ones at home and the Group Two Warwick Stakes in Sydney, has 56kg.

Four-year-old Sacred Falls, favourite with the TAB in Epsom betting at $9, has 55.5kg as he bids to claim the Doncaster-Epsom Group One double in 2013.

It is 2.5kg more than he carried to win the Doncaster in which weights were raised 1kg.

Red Tracer is the highest-weighted mare with 54kg ahead of Streama (53.5kg) who was fourth in this year's Doncaster carrying the same weight.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Carlton House, who is owned by the Queen, has 54kg and is on the second line of betting at $10 alongside the Guy Walter-trained duo Streama and Toydini (52kg).

Walter said he was happy with the handicaps of his two leading contenders.

"I couldn't really expect a lot less than the 53-1/2," Walter said.

Malavio, who qualified automatically for an Epsom start by winning the Tramway Stakes, is on the minimum 52kg.

Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon and his imported stablemate Sea Moon are the joint topweights for the Group One Metropolitan (2400m).

Makybe Diva Stakes winner Foreteller has 58kg, half a kilogram more than Sydney Cup winner Mourayan.

The Chris Waller-trained Moriarty is favourite for the Metropolitan and has 56kg.

Both races are at Randwick on October 5.
