Blake Shinn threw a scare into the Fiorente camp when he was dislodged from his mount in the final race at Randwick on Wednesday after it reared in the starting stalls.
Storm Pelotari was a late scratching from the TAB.com.au Handicap after he became fractious in the gates and tossed Shinn out the back of the barriers.
Shinn, who picked up the Cox Plate ride on Fiorente following a suspension to Damien Oliver, walked away unscathed.
The race was won by the Kim Waugh-trained Forget, a superbly bred son of Exceed And Excel out of Mnemosyne who cost $60,000 at a Darley tried-horse sale.
Forget's owners include Waugh's husband, former Test cricketer Mark, and former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting who Mark Waugh said took a bit of convincing to buy a share.
"He took a lot of coaxing," Waugh said.
"He's been in a couple of horses with us.
"I rang him and told him I found a horse who was well bred and had a bit of potential.
"He finally got back to me after quite a few text messages."
Waugh was also in the good books with fast bowler Ryan Harris who he bumped into at Randwick and duly tipped him Forget who scored at $11.
