Connections of Griante believe she has stakes ability but are prepared to wait until next season to chase a black-type win with the in-form filly.
Griante will instead be out to cap her preparation with a third-straight city win at Sandown on Saturday after a decision was made not to travel the filly to Brisbane, despite the temptation.
Griante is nominated for a 1400m handicap for three-year-olds and a 1600m event for fillies with the latter expected to be the favoured option.
Co-trainer David Feek, who operates in partnership with David Brideoake at Mornington, said they seriously considered sending Griante to Brisbane on Sunday with the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes on Saturday week and another Listed race the interstate options.
"We were very close to going," Feek said.
"We just couldn't get a jockey to commit to her 100 per cent and we weren't comfortable taking her up there and not having a jockey committed to ride her.
"So we've opted to stay down here."
Feek said apprentice Kayla Nisbet would ride Griante on Saturday, taking 3kg off the filly's 58kg.
Griante has settled on the speed to win over 1440m and 1600m at Caulfield in her past two outings, carrying 59kg last time out.
"She's in really, really good shape. She's a horse we've always had a high opinion of," Feek said.
"It will probably be her last run this Saturday, win, lose or draw, then we will bring her back for maybe the back end of the (spring) carnival."
The eight race Sandown card includes two feature jumps races, the $100,000 Australian Hurdle and the $100,000 Australian Steeplechase.
