It has taken only a short time for Tye Angland to re-establish himself in the Sydney riding ranks since his return from Hong Kong as shown by an early winning double at Randwick.
Angland combined with premier trainer Chris Waller to win the first two races aboard two-year-old Delectation, who showed professionalism beyond his years, and the somewhat wayward Kristy Lee.
The mare made Angland work hard in the 1200m benchmark 85 when she wanted to lay in down the straight before getting the better of Cradle Me.
Kristy Lee ($5.50) got past the $3.30 favourite inside the final 100m to win by 1-1/4 lengths.
"I knew she would pick the other one up but she didn't want to go straight," Angland said.
"She wanted to lay in so I was having to keep her head turned out.
"In some races that will go against her but she she got the job done today."
Angland said he was pleased with the support he had been getting from the leading stables since his return last month.
"It's great that the Chris Waller stable put me on right away and things are going well," he said.
Waller gave Angland some valuable advice before he opened the day with victory on Delectation, a drifter from $3.30 to $4.20, in the 2YO Plate (1200m).
"Chris told me not to fight him too much and said if he does want to roll along and lead then let him," Angland said.
"I let him roll for the first bit. I just tried to hold him together as much as I could and when I went for him he really kicked and that won me the race."
Delectation had a half neck to spare over Proactive ($9) with the $2.50 favourite Va Va Veni weakening to finish last after being midfield at the home turn.
