Jockey Nick Hall can be thankful a leg injury suffered in a trackwork fall is not more severe but it has cost him a winning double at Sandown.
Hall was taken to hospital on Tuesday after it was feared he suffered an autumn carnival-ending broken leg in the fall but luckily scans showed otherwise.
The jockey hopes to be back at trackwork on Friday week.
In his absence, Mark Zahra picked up the winning ride aboard Mywordsaidthebird at Sandown on Wednesday before Duibio scored under Steven Arnold.
"It's was unfortunate for Nick, but we got the job done today," Zahra said.
"I've ridden him in work a couple of times and it was a sound win as he's only a small horse."
Duibio might be a horse going places with Arnold saying the gelding still has a lot to learn.
"He's still a bit raw and doesn't know how to put it all together, but when he balanced up in the straight he gave me a really good feel in the last furlong," Arnold said.
While Arnold gained a victory with a pick-up ride, his mother Sheila prepared a winner earlier on the program with the much travelled The Ruffian.
The rising eight-year-old will be heading for a fifth trip to Darwin for the mid-year carnival after his win over 2100m.
"He's already booked on the truck to go up there again," she said.
Nikki Burke was elated with the maiden victory of Bourgeoisie in the opening race of the day but left the track with her left hand in a splint after breaking her thumb.
Bourgeoisie's stablemate Gangnam Style bit the trainer as she removed the tongue tie after he finished 10th in the race won by Mywordsaidthebird.
