A tough week was made easier for Mornington trainer Logan McGill when Gold Busker won the Gold Sovereign Stakes at Launceston on Wednesday.
McGill is the foreman for Mark Riley who on Monday was disqualified for three years on a TCO2 charge.
He has been with Riley for 11 years and Gold Busker is his first stakes winner since taking out his own trainer's licence 12 months ago.
"It's business as usual and I've got no restrictions on me. I'm just digging in and doing the best for the owners," McGill said.
McGill said Gold Busker was one of a number of horses that he and Riley had to seperate in search of wins with two-year-olds.
Winning jockey Jarrod Todd got the call up to ride Gold Busker in his debut Magic Millions win on February 11 when Stephen Baster stayed in Melbourne.
"He's still a green horse. He got a little bit lost when he got to the front but he kept it going," Todd said.
"There's more exciting times ahead."
